Nyl, before you sell your classics, have you tried playing "pressure profiling" with this single boiler machine? You can manipulate a bit with the steam wand knob towards the middle/end of brew to lower the brewing pressure and limit the flow rate.

The steam wand knob can also be used for pre-infusion. Turn on the knob at the first few seconds of brewing, hot water would come out from the wand and the pressure in the head would drop substantially. This method of pre-infusion is better than the pre-programmed "single dose" button because the valve at the group head was not opened using this method and the coffee powder would not be drained back into the group head when pre-infusing. The first few seconds of overheated water (usually boiling) would also be drained out via the wand, instead of used for brewing the grounds.

Thanks peter for the advices. seems like you have a very good understanding of the machine. I never thought the pressure could manipulate the brew pressure but if you think about it it makes total sense.

i have done some researches on the mod of the classic. most people do a PID, or just a temp surf to control the initiate brewing temperature but all these dont affect much on the temp drop during the brew.

there are other reasons for me to sell the machine beside its limitations but it's just me.
